I’m so excited! I get to share again!
Who gets excited over being in pain, right? Well, I’m not so much excited about the pain as I am excited that it’s another good experience I was able to have with essential oils.
Here’s my story:
I got up to get a shower last weekend and, out of nowhere, I felt excruciating pain in my upper back and neck. I could barely move my head side to side or back and forth. It was so crazy! I was perfectly fine just a second ago! What in the world could I have done to myself just sitting in my chair? It was awful! I’m pretty sure now it was caused by stress and tension, but at the time I didn’t really care about the cause as much as I did getting rid of the pain.
I decided to continue on with my shower thinking the hot water might help to relieve the pain some. It didn’t. I was still pretty much stuck in one position, unable to really move too much. It did help me to realize that the pain was coming from behind my right shoulder blade though, and radiating into the rest of my upper back and neck. Yep, stress pain! I didn’t realize I was stressed out, but evidently my body did and it decided to let me know.
After my hot shower didn’t work, I decided to try some Deep Blue oil on the area. Why not give it a try, right? I applied it directly to my shoulder and neck area and then went about my day, though still in pain. Every time I moved it hurt. I applied it again, and still nothing. It felt cool on my skin, but it didn’t seem to help the issue. I thought maybe I didn’t get it on the right spot, since I can’t reach all the way down my shoulder blade, so that evening I asked my husband to massage a few drops into it for me. Then I used a hot pad intermittently throughout the evening. Nope, it still didn’t do anything. So I took a couple of Aleve and went to bed…still in pain.
The next morning it still hurt, but I had to deal with it and get ready for work. No way was I going to cancel my appointments for a sore muscle. I took another hot shower, hoping to relax it more, and continued to get ready for work. This time I decided to use some Past Tense on it instead. If the Deep Blue didn’t work, maybe this would. It was worth a try anyway.
I went about my morning routine, trying to stay as motionless as possible, and dragged myself to the salon. By the time I got there, the pain was mostly gone! I couldn’t believe it! No Aleve, just the Past Tense oil. It worked! A few hours later the pain started to come back, so I applied more. It stayed away and I was able to complete my day without any major pain. What a relief!! I was really worried it was going to affect my service to my clients.
I continued to use the Past Tense for the next few days, applying it every couple of hours before I ever felt any pain. Yesterday I stopped using it to see if it was gone or if I had just masked the issue. Well, I can honestly say it’s gone! I don’t need the Past Tense now. I can move freely without any pain. Woohoo! It’s a miracle! lol No, not really, it’s the power of nature!
I was telling my rep about this issue and I had mentioned that, even before I started doTERRA and I was using other oils, the one thing that confused me about them was so many of the oils work for so many of the same things, which makes it hard to know which one to really recommend to someone. She agreed, but reminded me that, just like my experience with the Deep Blue and the Past Tense, every person is different and what doesn’t work for one person might work for another, etc. So, I’m learning that just because the Deep Blue didn’t work for my situation, that doesn’t mean it wouldn’t work for other people, and vice versa.
I’m really glad the pain is gone, which was my main concern at the time, but I’m also happy to have had the experience to share with others! This is really turning out to be some great stuff, for me at least.
Thank you again for reading my experiences and letting me share them with you!
